5 Albums To Inspire Your Flatipicking In 2015
Here is a little list I’ve compiled of albums (in no particular order) that I stumbled across in the past year that may be slightly off the beaten path. I definitely recommend purchasing all of these fine recordings. For your convenience, I have provided links to buy these records from the artist.
Allen Shadd – Miles From the Hard Road
Allen is a two-time national flatpick champion and Miles From The Hard Road is filled with beautifully executed flatpicking.
John Mailander – Walking Distance
Molly Tuttle brings some very nice, creative picking to John Mailander’s Walking Distance.
Julain Lage + Chris Eldridge – Avalon
Julian and Chris are both monster pickers. Julian seems to have a never-ending stream of fun ideas, and Chris’s tone and crosspicking is among the finest.
Haas Kowert Tice – You Got This
Jordan Tice is a brilliant flatpicker with taste and tone, seemingly influenced by a wide variety of Irish and old-time fiddle music and jazz.
Scott Law – Black Mountain
Scott is a guitar wizard, drawing on experience in both the world of electric and acoustic guitar, and is always full of surprises.
Steep Ravine – Trampin On
Simon Linsteadt is one of the finest young picker’s on the west coast, belowing out monster tone through his jazz-infused flatpicking.
